Søren “The Crusher” Champion 2008 & 2009

“The Crusher” had his first tennis racquet in his hand when he was 5 years old. Throughout his young years in Bangkok Tennis club he repeatedly showed his major tennis potential by winning all the tournaments he participated in. Moving around to different countries gave “The Crusher” many different inputs with regards to different playing styles which made “The Crusher” even a more dangerous opponent. In 1992 “The Crusher” saw his first victory on Danish soil by winning Herlufsholm Open where he was a boarding school pupil. After this culmination of his career he put tennis on hold. But now – two decades later – he is back, even more scary and fierce than ever. With his elegant swift style combined with agility and strong winner mentality he is moving rapidly upwards on the ATP.

“If you play “The Crusher”, you must play your best. He doesn’t have any weaknesses”. He plays a continental forehand, which has almost completely dissapeared from the professional tour due to the high level of touch needed to master this shot, especially in on-the-run situations. His backhand is similarly continental and one-handed. He is not known for a power game, but rather for his serve and volley mastery, a style of play that faded in the late 1990s with the advent of raquets that enhanced the return of serve above the serve and made approaches to the net following a serve problematic for all but the finest exponents of the craft.
